Pool Maintenance Checklist
A realistic maintenance rhythm for a pool that runs year-round, see Maintenance Tips for the full explanation behind each item.
Twice a week
Test free chlorine, pH, and alkalinity; skim the surface; empty skimmer baskets.
Weekly
Brush walls and steps; check filter pressure gauge against the clean baseline.
Monthly
Test calcium hardness, cyanuric acid, and total dissolved solids; inspect visible equipment for wear or leaks.
Quarterly
Deep-clean or backwash the filter fully; inspect pump, heater, and salt cell (if applicable) for wear.
Before freeze warnings
Set equipment to auto-circulate and insulate exposed plumbing; never drain the pool for a freeze.
